King and Queen For The Day
Invited, not an ambush!
Raja Sehari, or King and Queen for the day - - that's the "status" given to the bride & groom during a Malay's wedding day.
And today, it's Jo, and his newly wed wife!
I suppose to be at FRIM today, but instead i drive to Serendah, about 10 minutes away from Rawang town, to attend Jo's wedding. We were talking about our next hiking trip, before he called and said "Man, i'm getting married!" Threat not, his wife is also a hiking kaki. Take it from Jo: "Next time when we camp, don't come close to our tent, ok!"
Well, i can live with that, hehe! :p
Welcoming guests
Upon my arrival, thing were much on-going already. Few tents were set up to serve a simple buffer lunch, with loud speaker on. Kids were runnig around, as the adults catching up gossips...
Jo's parents were busy welcoming guest, gave them a warm Salam plus ang pau, since i didn't prepare and gift. I did visit Jo's house before and hence, the mother recognize me! Phew! I am probably the only chinese there, it's good to have someone knowing my, while Jo is still in his convoy!
Yummy!
As i start having my "brunch", i thought a some camera point at me, someone looks Pro with DSLR...later i found out he's Uncle Jo's colleague, a police photographer! Maybe he was shooting crime scene most of the time, but it's good to change the "taste" sometime! :)
Bearers of decorative flowers (bunga manggar)
Actually i don't mind waiting for Jo's convoy, since i have more time to walk & talk around, taking my shots. And, i get to eat first! In Chinese's wedding, how ever, we would have to wait till the new couple arrived!
Aisha, busy girl herself!
Aisha, Jo's sister, was kind enough to share some words with me. I did notice the "all blue" clothing by her, the parents, etc. It turn out to be the theme for that day, all the family members and close relatives were wearing striking blue costume!
Perarakan
Upon their arrival, the new couple would start "marching" a short distance back to groom's house - - or better known as Perarakan, usually followed by musicians beating various types of traditional drums. Today, it was the hand-held kompang!
Bersanding
Ceremonial seating on the dias, or bersanding, was the high point of a Malay wedding. Here, the couple will receive blessing from friends and relative, in another cerenomy known as berbedak.
Berbedak
Of course, soon after everything was done, photo sessions with the King and Queen!
My turn yet?
Jo said he will definitely attend my wedding. Well bro, remember to bring along your kids, haha!!!
Couples, forever!
On my way back, i passed by this double rail track, just in the vicinity of Jo's house. Double, or pair - - 双(shuang) in chinese, is something good for couple.
Wishing both of you lovely couples forever, much much longer than these track might go!
