Pre - KIOKU

" Sympathy will kill us " - - Mr. Chris'S. Kali, President of SERVICE KIOKU.

If you are still wondering, KIOKU stands for Keluarga Interaksi Orang-Orang Kurang Upaya, or in short, family for the handicapped. Today, we, fellow SCI Malaysia's members, suppose to prepare for the 7th-KIOKU DAY, tomorrow.

More than just an annual family day for our friends on wheelchair and the public, this year's KIOKU DAY will mark the official launching of the ONE STOP CENTER, providing a reference platform for all the disable and handicapped friends in Malaysia. From here, it is hope that they will be able to prove their self-reliance, capabilities, and confidence in them.

I guess the thougher objective will be creating public awareness, before integrating the disable into the community.

Loads of Hershey's Cocoa waiting to be transpoted to Lake Garden

Anyway, our day started with transfering some 95 boxes of Hershey's Cocoa, plus some clothes/miscellinous items for the jumbo sale to a 10 tonne lorry, before unloading it to Lake Garden, Kuala Lumpur.

Sue and Maria at work, Singh on the lorry

When i'm at Stephen's house, Angel are already working on the collage, while Maria is ... ... ... doing her German language class's homework! Even if she need to attend her class at 11 a.m., we still need her help.

Angel, "baby-sitting" some cloths

I am glad that Stephen called me the night before, saying that "It would be helpful" if i can reach his house by 9 a.m. today. Else it will be only Sue, Maria, Angel - - and 95 boxes of cocoa! We all had some idea regarding the size if lorry, based on their tonnage. Thanks to Singh for his service also, i heard he still have to work afterwards.

Happy on the 10 tonner, though:p

I decided to hoop on Singh's properties, befriend with him for a while along our journey. He talks alot (since i ask, haha) about his family, religion, life as lorry driver, etc. I can't help but asking for his contact, i've never attend Singh temple gathering before, must be interesting!

Things are much easier upon our arrival in Lake Garden, with the presence of Kali's helper. We then head to Bangsar for our brunch (breakfast + lunch), so called "banana leaf" restaurant, since they served their food solely on banana leaf, not on plates!

I had a roti canai, capati, and everything else on the table!

Slightly after lunch time, the rest of the "fellowship" joined us, plenty of work to do before we can called it a day! Particularly on the collage, moving the tables and chair around.

Angel, helping the main architect for the collage, Maria

Stephen and i manage to drop by a mini-market nearby, getting some stationaries

From left: SNah, Loong, Oliver and Henry

And we are really glad to have Oliver and Henry, ever faithful delegates from Penang! Worth serving them the best Satay in town at Ampang Jaya!

Good program, and good on you for helping.
I've always enjoyed doing volunteer work. It is very rewarding.

I liked the photos (as usual). The one of yourself in the mirror is cool, and the color of the flowers with the garlic in the marketplace is nice too.

Oops. Maybe that isn't garlic, but white flower leis? What do you call them there?

I've tried to avoid myself in the mirror, just couldn't find the angle, and the lorry are moving!

Yeah it's white Jasmine flowers, usually sold by our Indian friends for Hindu prayer offerings. It smells good! :)

Don't worry, it wasn't you being in the picture that I thought was cool - hehe.

I just thought the composition was very good.

You learned a lot reading National Geographic, I think. You do really good work with that camera.

Verification word: zripejiu
Meaning: what a Frenchman says when the jiu ripens.

And the credit still goes to me, haha! :p

Yeah, NatGeo did help. Sometime i still wonder how they take the shots! Or the end result gives you a deja vu, "Oh, i see!" kinda effect.

So you can do French as well? Fantastic! Some said, one of the most beautiful language :)
