硝山*3 : Rubber Estate
"After few decades, the price has finally gone up. It was a long wait, but it comes eventually..."
Voices of my friend's father, and many other rubber tappers in Malaysia. You shouldn't be surprise that, nowadays, they could earn better than some fresh-grads degree holder. Well, if they don't share the same estate with a tiger :)
My Honda in the estate
10, 20 years back, peoples are still cycling to the rubber estate.
Now, it's Honda! Honda bikes, and not Suzuki or Yamaha because it's tougher, required less maintenance, and most of all, it's power to hike up-hill. Although some still prefers Basikal - - bicycle!
How to get rubber out of the tree? Here's a quick how...
Gently slice along the tree bark...
...do the same thing on 700 trees or more...
...make a round trip to collect the fresh white latex in the cup...
...and some "spare-parts" for the broken glass bowl, if you need it!
I used to come here for only one reasons. I'll tap the rubber, but using my small gasing. And i don't sell those few drops of latex, of course.
Instead, i'll apply it the edge of my gasing rope, so that it won't tangle together when i unwinds/thrown the gasing to the ground..
Still don't get it? Come and i can show you! :)
